Coolest Bookends Ever?

Snapped this picture at my Mom’s mantle the other day. Mom and Dad traveled the world in their retirement and these bookends were among the spoils of a trip to Africa. Pretty cool, huh? The selection of thin books is a good mix too.

P.S. And NO, that is NOT my thumb in the corner of the picture. I think it’s my ring fingertip… 🙂

I love bookends. I just wish the coolest ones weren’t just so dang expensive! I’m just too cheap, although I did spring for a gorgeous pair oh wood duck bookends, which I absolutely love!

Come to think of it, this would make a cool weekly meme for book bloggers. “Show us your bookends!” 🙂

Cool bookends! I currently have no bookends. In college, I had a type of bookend that my dad made for me. It was more of a combination bookshelf/bookend. The shelf tilted a little so that the books fell back against the one bookend and you didn’t have to worry about the books pushing the bookends and falling down. I don’t have it anymore. I might have to draw a picture.

I hardly have any either. Most of my books are on shelves with the “closed” sides and are so crammed with books that there is no chance they will ever fall over. 🙂 I do have one pair of some kind of polished stone bookends that are cool (each is kind of a 1/8th section of a sphere). The only others I have are some smaller ones from when I was a kid. Each is one half of a miniature of a military drum from the revolutionary war era. Their value is mostly sentimental…

The bookends are excellent, and I always enjoy reading Ogden Nash!

      Hi Tom,
I’ve never read anything by him, but if he has my Mom’s endorsement that’s good enough forme. 🙂
